Software & AI Engineer (Internship)

What you'll do
  • Implement features end to end, from the TypeScript frontend to the backend on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), including testing, code reviews and deployments via GitHub Actions
  • Bring AI agents into the product: build MCP-based agents and tools for admin functions and customers, and assess their reliability with systematic evaluations
  • Turn learning content and annotations into datasets, run fine-tuning experiments and compare results against clear metrics and baselines
  • Improve our development process with coding agents: test and integrate workflows, conventions and reusable skills for the whole team
  • Design and migrate data models for content, annotations and usage data, with Swiss data residency in mind
What you bring
  • Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, data science, electrical engineering, physics or a related field (ETH Zurich or comparable)
  • Confident in TypeScript and/or Python, with your own projects or code to show
  • Practical machine learning experience, e.g. with PyTorch; first experience with fine-tuning or LLMs is a plus
  • Solid grasp of data modelling and relational databases
  • Independent way of working, contributing to technical decisions and explaining your thinking clearly
  • Very good German or English
Nice to have
Experience with LLM agents, tool use, MCP or evaluations; Kubernetes, Azure and CI/CD; computer vision or 3D reconstruction (e.g. Gaussian Splatting or NeRF); and an interest in medicine or medical education. Industry experience and medical expertise are not required.
What we offer
Room to shape a product we are scaling, ownership of your tasks with weekly one-to-ones with the Engineering Lead, the hardware and AI tools you need, regular feedback with a mid-point and final review, a written reference, and the option to discuss a permanent position afterwards. Six months, fixed-term, 100% in Zollikon, near Zurich.
